Description
Ami sp. Panama with a leg span of 4 cm is a mature specimen that is approaching its target size. As a typical dwarf tarantula, this species does not reach impressive sizes, making it an ideal inhabitant of smaller enclosures. It is characterized by subdued, dark (almost black) coloration across its entire body, with subtle, light-colored rings visible on its leg joints. Its appearance is uniform and elegant.
In terms of behavior, Ami sp. Panama is a typically skittish spider. When disturbed or sensing sudden vibrations, it usually flees to its burrow or dense web. It is not an aggressive species, and its venom is considered weak, making it a safe choice for hobbyists seeking rare, smaller species. Its calmer temperament makes it easier to observe its natural behaviors in the terrarium.
Housing conditions should maintain a constant temperature between 24–27°C and high substrate humidity (approximately 75–80%). These spiders readily use decor items to build their hiding spots, so it’s a good idea to provide them with a thicker layer of moist substrate and pieces of bark or leaves to serve as a base for their nest. At this size (4 cm legspan), the female is already a capable hunter and readily accepts standard prey such as crickets or cockroaches of an appropriate size.
