Offered specimens of 1.5 cm in size grow very quickly and show great confidence at an early stage. Ultimately, it is one of the larger representatives of the genus, reaching impressive sizes. Behavior and venom Like most of the Old World birds, the "Sumatran Tiger" is characterized by high speed and defensive attitude. It has no scabbing hairs, so its main defensive reaction is to try to run away or adopt a warding posture. It possesses a strong venom that can cause severe symptoms in humans, such as severe pain and muscle spasms. For this reason, this species is recommended only to experienced keepers who can operate in a terrarium with a fast and unpredictable spider. Breeding conditions It requires a terrarium with a vertical orientation, but note that this species often builds its nests at the base of the trunk or in the crevices of the bark, taking advantage of the large amount of spider web. It is crucial to maintain high humidity (about 80%) and ensure good air circulation. The optimal temperature is 25-28°C. The substrate should be a mixture of peat and moss, which holds moisture well. In the decor it is worth using vertical sheets of cork oak bark.
