Although it grows slowly, each moult enhances the brilliance of its carapace. Behavior and venom This bird is known for its extremely peaceful nature. It very rarely shows aggression and does not have a strong venom, making it a safe choice even for those taking their first steps in terrarium keeping. In stressful situations, it usually chooses to flee or freeze motionless. It should be noted, however, that like any New World bird, it may have scalding hairs, although this species uses them extremely reluctantly. Breeding conditions Breeding Euathlus manicata gold is not complicated. As a species native to Chile, it prefers lower temperatures (room temperature, about 20-24°C) and moderate humidity. Too high temperatures and excessive humidity can harm it. As a substrate, coconut fiber with an admixture of clay or sand works best.
