Ceratogyrus sanderi (1.5cm) - Sandy Horned Baboon

Ceratogyrus sanderi, known as the Sandy Horned Baboon, is a less common old world bird in collections, but an extremely interesting one. Unlike its relatives with very tall appendages, C. sanderi has a distinctive low and wide horn that gives it a unique appearance. Its coloration masks it perfectly in its natural habitat - dominated by shades of beige, sandy yellow and delicate, darker patterns on the carapace and abdomen. Behavior and venom: Like any Baboon spider, C. sanderi is very fast and defensive. It compensates for its lack of scabbing hairs with its dynamic character and powerful venom. This is a spider that can react instantly at the slightest concern, so it is recommended for people who have already had contact with fast African spiders. Young specimens of 1.5 cm are extremely nimble. Breeding conditions: this species prefers a terrestrial lifestyle. In a terrarium, it does not require an extremely thick layer of substrate, but it readily uses hiding places, which it further entwines with a dense web. It is crucial to provide a dry environment and very good ventilation, which mimics conditions in the semi-arid areas of Namibia. The optimal temperature is 26-29°C. A bowl of water should be a permanent fixture so that the spider can replenish fluids at any time.
