Description
Ephebopus murinus is striking for its distinctive, “skeletal” coloration. Its dark brown abdomen, golden carapace, and black legs with light stripes give it a unique and easily recognizable appearance. Adult females reach about 5–6 cm in body length and 13–15 cm in leg span.
This is a ground-dwelling and burrowing species that thrives best in moist soil that allows it to dig deep burrows. Ephebopus murinus is known for its high speed and defensive temperament, which is why it is recommended primarily for more experienced keepers. An additional interesting feature is the stinging hairs on its front legs—a trait unique to the genus Ephebopus.
