Description
Heteroscodra maculata, known as the "Snowbird" or "Togo Starburst Baboon," is one of the most spectacular and exciting species in the world of arachnids. Native to the rainforests of West Africa, this arboreal spider impresses with its marbled gray-white coloration with dark accents and distinctive star-shaped pattern on its carapace. It is extremely fast, leaping and unpredictable, and its strong venom makes it unsuitable for novice breeders. Instead of scalding hairs, it relies on a lightning-fast escape or defensive bite when threatened. In the terrarium, it forms impressive web-like structures, often covering the entire interior with them. Although it is a typically arboreal species, young individuals burrow into the substrate for the first months of their lives, which makes their observation even more fascinating. This is a spider that is stunning in appearance and temperament, but requires respect and experience.
