Appearance and Size
Size: Females 6–7 cm in body length (up to 15 cm leg span); males are smaller and slimmer. Adult coloration: Turquoise-green carapace, orange/bright red abdomen, navy-blue legs. Juvenile coloration: Juveniles have a pinkish carapace and a black pattern on the abdomen.
Housing Conditions
Temperature: 25–28°C during the day, with a slight drop at night (to 20–22°C). Humidity: Low (50–60%). The substrate in the terrarium should be dry; a water dish is recommended. Terrarium: Minimum 30x20x20 cm for an adult female. It is advisable to provide branches, roots, or cork tubes on which the spider can spin an elaborate web.
Characteristics and Temperament
Temperament: Agile, skittish, generally non-aggressive. Venom: Weak; this species is also recommended for beginners and intermediate keepers. Defense: It has stinging hairs on its abdomen, which it readily discharges when threatened. Diet: Live insects (cockroaches, crickets, mealworms) sized appropriately for the spider.
